In 1995, Satoshi Tajiri created a fictional character franchise called Pokemon which started as a video game. Soon it took the world by storm so much so that it gave birth to the craze called Pokemania.
Using hand held consoles the humans, called Pokemon Trainers, caught new Pokemon and trained them to fight each other. The strategy based role playing game soon became a franchise, so popular that it became the second most popular game franchise, behind only the Mario series.
Then things took a turn from the worst. There were new attractions with the names of Playstation and Xbox. Nintendo was not able to break their popularity or tear people away from them.
But as they say when you can’t win the game, redefine the rules. This is exactly what Nintendo did with Pokemon. Since it could not tear people from its competitors’ consoles, it brought them out of their rooms with the launch of Pokemon Go.
Pokemon, the augmented reality games, plays on the deep desire of all video games aficionados to truly inhabit the world depicted in game. Well folks, this is as close as you can get. Well, it has already charmed the world over. In US, it is already installed on 5.16% while the grand daddy of dating Tinder, is on 2.4% mobiles within 2 days of its launch.
The fever has gripped India too. People are increasingly being found in groups at PokeStops and Gyms to fight it out. So, if you too are enamored with Pokemon love, here are some tips to improve your game:
- Look for them in more populated areas such as parks, especially near a body of water. However, being in India, such a place might be tough to discern. Parking lots are also a good idea.
- Hunt in groups. It will be easily to catch that Kadabra if multiple people are searching for it.
- If your system crashes, force shut and reopen the app. You will either land the Pokemon or it will be open for you.
- Try playing during off hours. There will be less traffic on the app and the experience will be better.
- PokeStops are more easy to find using Ingress.
