Many a hearts were broken on 31st March whilst India lost to West Indies.  No doubt we all will miss our beloved Kohli and Dhoni in action.

But this most uncommon of WT20 Final offers a lot, making it one match you just can’t miss out on. So let’s take a look at some of the players and contests to watch out for in this WT20 Final!

  1. Chris Gayle vs Jason Roy

We already know how destructive can the big Jamaican Christopher Henry Gayle can be. His batting exploits are something we have all witnessed many times in the IPL.

Having plenty of experience of playing in Indian conditions, if Gayle puts his brawn on display, there’ll be no stopping the Calypso beat. On the other hand, England opener Roy has been in a fine touch throughout this tournament scoring at a brisk pace.

His consistent batting with plenty of boundaries top of the order have been vital in England’s success this tournament, including a record 230+ chase against South Africa.

It will be an interesting contest to see which of these two power hitters manages to give their teams a headstart in the final on Sunday.

  1. Darren Sammy vs Eoin Morgan

Both these figures have turned around fortunes of their teams upside down with their tactical skills and motivated leadership.

While Morgan has been leading an explosive but inconsistent England for nearly a year now, Sammy, who has often led them in the past, including the victorious campaign of 2012 World T20 in Sri Lanka, had only been handed the captaincy a few days before the tournament.

Under Morgan, England has been all about shedding away their traditional approach and playing a new brand of aggressive cricket with young blokes coming to the fore and taking control. Under Sammy, West Indies have shown a sense of collectivity as a unit.

something often missing in their team amidst a rigmarole of administration clashes with players, inspire of having world beating match winners.

To see of these inspired leaders can lead their team to a second World T20 title will be an interesting clash with challenges at both of them.

  1. Andre Russell vs Ben Stokes

Ben Stokes has been among the most consistent match winners for England during the past year and a half. His all round display includes power hitting down the order and regularly picking crucial wickets.

He has been one of the important cogs in the rebuilding of English limited-overs cricket under Morgan. On the other hand, Andre Russell is one with limitless potential, having performed consistently in franchise cricket around the world but has not yet proved his mettle at the international stage.

That however, has not been the case this tournament, with Russel having consistently contributing to the team’s cause with both bat and ball. It will be interesting to see which of these two comes out at the top as the true match winning all rounder in the final.

  1. Samuel Badree vs Adil Rashid

It is almost certain – and can be seen from past tournaments – that no visiting team without a quality spinner has ever lasted long in India. And both these teams were already aware of that fact.

While Sunil Narine’s absence was expected to hurt West Indies’ prior to the start of the tournament, Samuel Badree has taken the responsibility so well on his shoulders.

His quick leg spinners along with variations like the straighter ones and googlies, have left the batsmen baffled, ensuring nobody misses Narine even for a minute.

Another leg spinner, Adil Rashid has been a great find for England, having delivered consistently good spells for them in match winning causes.

Rashid’s high arm flighted deliveries have been inviting batsmen to hit through them, ultimately deceiving them to doom. To see these two contrasting styles of leg spin operate in the final will be a worthy contest to watch.

  1. Lendl Simmons vs Joe Root

Having been called as a last minute replacement from West Indies, Lendl Simmons took Indian bowling apart at his adapted home ground of Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai during the semi final.

His heroics have ensured that the team will rely heavily on him in  the middle order. On the other hand, England batting’s backbone has been Joe Root, scoring consistently at a quick pace throughout the tournament to take England past the finishing line.

In the final on Sunday, it will be an intriguing clash to see which of these two can take their teams to the title.
