- Play carrom
Delhi School of Economics has an active community of carrom board players. Visit the campus anytime after 5pm and more often than not, a spirited game will be underway behind the JP Tea Stall.
Most of them are seasoned players and welcome more members. Just make sure you brush up on your basic Marx, Kant, and Foucault.
- Chai point
There is no dearth of tea spots around the campus, but the Vijay Nagar Chowk is in a league of its own. The Chowk, also known as chai point, has tea stalls that make efficient use of the footpath to provide seating.
Embodying the concept of chai pe charcha, conversations with strangers flow freely as people discuss everything from politics to the latest in cinema.
- Go cycling
North campus has broad roads with dedicated lanes for cyclists making it the perfect place to revisit childhood memories.
You can rent a bicycle from the Vishwavidyalaya metro station by the hour and cycle around the sprawling campus for as low as 20 rupees!
- DDA market, Hudson Lane
With cheap but delicious coffee, burgers to die for and an electric ambience, its appeal remains intact despite the sudden increase in restaurants around the area.
One should specially visit Suresh Tea Stall whose tea and parathas are the perfect antidote to winter.
- Visit Majnu ka Tilla
Majnu ka Tilla or MKT is a place that you wouldn’t believe till you saw it. Often called mini Dharamshala, it has a small monastery that rings with prayers during the day and the courtyard comes alive during the night with the smell of Tibetan cooking.
Gorge on street food like Shafale while you admire the many shops that sell clothes, Tibetan artefacts, and shoes. It has some great options for authentic Naga and Korean cuisines as well.
- Socio Back lawns
Ask any student from North Campus and they will tell you that going to the back lawns in the Sociology Department in Delhi School of Economics is a rite of passage.
With grafitti, conversations that turn into debates, and broken chairs to sit on, its ambience is the embodiment of campus life.
