Each one of us has 24 hours a day. Is it not weird how some people can get so much out of the same while most of us lesser mortals follow the litany of office and home? Somehow, they pack in so much in their day, even after having to sit out 9 hours in the office like all of us others.
Well, it is not rocket science. If they can, so do you. Just try to follow what comes underneath:
1. Pick up something that serves a purpose
It can be a hobby, a pet project or learning a new skill – everything is fair game as long as there is a reason as to why you are doing it. It is human to lose interest or feel de-motivated once the initial excitement wears off. It is this sense of purpose that keeps us going after that.
2. Start immediately after reaching home
Do not succumb to the calls of the bed or TV. What sounds like a short rest generally ends up inducing a stage of lethargy. Like they say – a body in motion tends to stay in motion. Reach home, change, freshen up but then head to the working table not for the remote.
3. Have a set of rituals
Try to have a set ritual to what you do. For example, having a glass of juice once you start work, making a to do list that you need to accomplish before dinner – this ensures that mentally and psychologically you are telling your body that it should gear up for the tasks at hand.
4. Do it only for ten minutes
Not feeling like doing it? Bored? Promise to work on it only for 10 minutes. After the slotted ten minutes you will realize that you are “in the zone” and chances are you will take the task to completion.
5. Treat yourself to off days
Then there will be days when none of this will work. It is okay. No need to berate yourself. Why not head out for an impromptu plan? Treat yourself for being a good boy. Just ensure that the off – days do not outnumber the regular ones!!
Hope this helps. Also, if you’re looking for a place near your office to save time on your commuting, check out CoHo for flats on rent in Noida, Gurgaon and Delhi now.
