South Campus is considered a great option for undergraduate studies by students from all over the country. With remarkable colleges like Sri Venkateswara College and Lady Shri Ram College, it is not uncanny that year after year students applying to Delhi University pick South Campus as their preference. Allow us to run you through the best places that one could reside in South Delhi. Favorites amongst students, these seven residential options are the most sought-after by the bachelor mind!

1) Saket

Besides the glory attached to its name for being a brilliant shopping destination, Saket is also famous for being a proper residential area. If you’re attending South Campus, it becomes the best choice for a student on a budget. Consisting of residential blocks starting from A and ending at N, the Press Enclave, Paryavaran Complex and flats available around the Garden of Five Senses. Everything from an 18.5 acre wide Saket Sports Complex, quaint cafes like Rose Cafe and Blue Tokai to Select City Walk and PVR Anupam (the oldest multiplex), it’s an absolute wonder.

Close vicinity to Delhi University colleges like Gargi college, Kamla Nehru college, and Aurobindo college, Saket is the ideal residential option for students looking to stay in touch with the Delhi vibe. And the best part about staying in Saket is when you get tired of all the shopping and the movies, you can enjoy that blissful cup of coffee at dusk in those peculiar eating joints and cafes in and around Saket. And what’s better than the Garden of Five Senses for an evening stroll and a chill date with the dogs?

2) Vasant Kunj

Extremely close to the airport, it’s ideal for the working professional who has to travel a lot but doesn’t wish to part ways with the vibrancy of Delhi. Foothills of the Aravali mountain range, a cool breeze in the morning and an amazing trekking destination. What a dream! An extremely secure area with political presence, including our former Prime minister Manmohan Singh’s residence, the residents of Vasant Kunj are lucky on the safety front. A very well planned area also comes with exquisite historical establishments … and no, we’re not talking about Ambience Mall or DLF Promenade and PVR Priya. Within the sectors is the first mausoleum in Delhi – Sultan Ghari. An absolute must for a break from all those books!

3) Lajpat Nagar

Hunger Strike and Nagpal ke chole kulche are not the only things that Lajpat Nagar is famous for, kids. The most convenient choice for students going to Lady Shri Ram College, Lajpat Nagar is known for the affordable accommodation it offers to bachelors and working families. Nothing short of a paradise for shopping purposes, the enormous Lajpat Nagar Central Market is the one thing that has all of Delhi driving towards it. A large extension that has been divided into 4 subparts – Lajpat Nagar 1, 2, 3, and 4. Populated with people coming from all walks of life, it houses people from different ethnicities, cultures, and nationalities.

4) Amar Colony

Extremely close to the Moolchand metro station and the Lajpat Nagar metro, Amar Colony is super affordable for college going students. And let’s not forget. Our personal favorite! We would vouch for those momos and that French food with all our might. With a diversity of residents from Afghanistan to Africans, the cuisines available are all the more alluring. Some of the best food that you can find in South Delhi, Amar Colony works in the favor of foodies. Well, who can deny the desires of the perpetually hungry student’s tummy? 5) Hauz Khas

If an adorable studio apartment, overlooking the deer park and the still waters of that miniature lake, bang in the middle of a lit area is your calling – Hauz Khas Village is the place to move to. Although the main Hauz Khas area is mostly inaccessible to students and bachelors, the Hauz Khas Village area is a loved choice amongst Delhi University Students. Precisely because of the utter adventure that comes with the beat and the crowd, the area can be ideal for those who enjoy a good time in the company of others. And we won’t lie to you, waking up to nobody but your independent self and your cat, sipping coffee looking at the settled algae on the lake’s surface … sigh, Hauz Khas does sound pleasant!

One of the poshest residential areas in New Delhi, Greater Kailash is an absolute delight of a locality. With beautiful houses in little pockets surrounding lush gardens, Greater Kailash is the best place to live in despite its high cost. The most affluent wish to have a place in that locality, and for a student, it is no less than a dream! Divided into two parts, Gk 1 is considerably commercial with markets that students adore.
