7 Quick Snacks you can make at Home

The coronavirus lockdown has turned a lot of us into Master Chefs. All thanks to the extra time on our hands. While some people are being forced to learn the basics of cooking, others are further honing their skills. The Internet is also flooded with amazing recipes to help people cook meals for themselves. But wait, what about the snacks?

When you’re really hungry, you don’t want to spend too much time cooking up something. Belo listed snacks are super easy to make, require minimum ingredients, and of course, get ready in around 15 minutes! It’s ideal for those who want to cook a quick snack or for those who are just starting out with cooking.

Cheesy Nachos

Take a microwave-safe container, spread nachos, add in some chopped onions and tomatoes, add in some oregano, chilly flakes, and some black olives if you like.. grate some cheese on top and microwave it till the cheese melts completely.. sprinkle a little coriander and it’s ready.

Veggie Sandwich

Finely chop all the veggies you have, like mushrooms, corns, onions, capsicum, and tomatoes. Add all this in a bowl and add some mayonnaise, along with salt, black pepper powder, and some oregano and chili flakes and give it a mix so that everything combines together. Take two slices of bread, apply some melted butter on one and some chipotle sauce on the other slice, add this mixture and spread evenly, grate some cheese on top and close it with the other slice. Toast it till crisp and you are ready to go! You can make variations, by adding sauteed seekh, finely chopped to the mixture, if you are a nonvegetarian.

Masala Makhana

Makhana (fox nuts) is a light and nutritious snack that you can quickly make for yourself. Heat a little oil in a pan and roast the makhana in it on low flame till crispy. Season it with spices of your choice like salt, black pepper, chaat masala and stir well.  This one is great when you want a tasty and light snack.

Roasted Chiwda

Bored of eating poha the regular way.. Well, there’s another way you can have it. Doing so is super easy. Just heat a little oil in a pan. Add some peanuts and roast them for a minute. Now, add a handful of dry poha flakes (chiwda) and stir till they turn crispy. It should not take more than two to three minutes. Turn off the flame and sprinkle salt and black pepper. You can also use peri-peri masala or chaat masala for flavour and your roasted chiwda namkeen is ready.

Bread Pizza

Take bread slices, spread some pizza sauce, add finely chopped veggies, like onion, capsicum, tomatoes, bell peppers, mushrooms and corns. Top some oregano and chilli flakes, salt and black pepper. And most importantly, top it with loads of grated mozzarella cheese. In a pan, add some olive oil + butter, put the bread slice with the mixture, cover with a lid.. it’ll be ready to serve as soon as you see the cheese melting.. so you’ll have crisp bread on bottom and melted cheese on top! Enjoy

Mug Cake

Take BourBon biscuits, grind to a powder in the mixer, add little milk and mix again, don’t add too much milk as the mixture needs to be a little thick. Next add a pinch of regular eno, mix it and transfer the mixture to the mug, put chunks of chocolate in the bowl and make it reach the middle of the mixture. Next, microwave for 2 minutes and your mug cake is ready! Top it with a scoop of Vanilla Icecream and it’s best for your 2am cravings!

Cheesy Garlic Bread

All you need is butter at room temperature, add in chopped garlic, some oregano, chilly flakes, some chopped parsley (if you don’t have parsley, you can skip it too) and mix well. Apply on both sides of bread, heat a nonstick tawa, add some butter, put the bread slice..toast on both sides on medium flame and once both sides are well toasted, add loads of grated cheese on one bread slice, cover it with another well toasted bread in the same way and cover with a lid, let the cheese melt on low flame for a minute or so, your cheesy garlic bread is readyyy!! Top some more oregano and chilli flakes and you are good to go!
